RAM not compatiable?

  DrpYourHeartbeat 12:25 04 Jun 2009

Well i put a new 1gb stick into my Acer, when i turn it on it makes a loud beeping noise. Guessing this means the RAM isn't the right kind?

The RAM i've used is a PNY 1GB DDR2 800MHz PC2-6400 200 pins. Should this work with the system or do i have the wrong kind?

Check the RAM slot connectivity as well.

For PC RAM slot leave empty for a long time, there could be oxidization and make the poor connection, try clean the RAM slot use a soft cloth or put some alcohol on a cotton stick then clean the RAM slot and wait 5 minutes for it to dry out before installing the new RAM.

Also try swap the RAM on different slot.

Hope this helps!

The Crucial scan doesn't always work. Reported my Acer notebook as having 0 (zero) RAM fitted witha a maximum of 0 allowable.
Support was first class, I emailed them and fitted two 1 gb modules in dual channel mode. Well worth it, great improvement. Great service too.
