Ram memory

My O/S is Windows XP Pro and I have 2Gb ram,
I understand that if I install 4Gb ram Windows will only recognise less that 3 Gb.
As I`m thinking of going to Windows 7 if it seems to work OK. I could use $Gb ram.
Point is, is it worth installing the extra 2Gb ram now or wait until Windows 7 installed.

If upped to 4Gb, XP will use 3.2Gb ... that is exactly what I have.

Slight correction - should read 3.12Gb, not 3.2 ....

If you installed 4 Gig of ram, xp will or may only see from 2.75 to 3.5 gig of ram, but xp will use all of the 4 gig. I personally only have 3 gig of crucial ram and it works very well & with 512 Graphics.

I would suggest wait till windows7 installed before adding more RAM.

In the case your PC hardware is not fully new OS compatible, you won't waste money on the extra 2 GB ram although it is not costly.

For the new windows, there may need some drivers update for the old PCs, and some drivers may not available for now so try not to buy more RAM for now.

Hope this helps!
