I am upgrading my computer shortly, I will be buying 2 x 320gb SATA II drives which I want to setup as RAID1 (mirrored).

What I need to know is, when I go into Windows Vista Setup and partition the disk into 2 parts (C and D drives) will the second mirrored disk automatically be partitioned the same ?

I need to know, when I setup Raid 1 monitoring in Bios, then start setting up Windows, If I create 2 partitions, will these be automatically mirrored on the other disk ?

If you have RAID1 set up, ie as a prerequisite to anything else you do then if you partition it will do both discs.

The key point about RAID1 is that once set up the OS only "sees" one disc and acts accordingly.

I have RAID1.

Tip for you dont use software RAID. I had it installed and caused me no end of issues. Bought a RAID 1 PCI card for £15 and fitted in mins. Now I have a RAID 1 array with a hot spare..
