Quicktime install not possible

  John Mclane 18:20 02 Jan 2006

I recentley deleted quicktime to view some files online and now cannot get it to install again. I've tried to completely delete from control panel and then try again but it will not let me as it failed to install in the first place. I've tried so many things that i can't remember how this has happened...any ideas please.

have you gone into C:\Program Files\Quicktime and remove the Quicktime folder? that might solve it...try it and see what happens...

Just tried that, Noel. Hasn't worked. Say's:
Error 1402. Could not open key. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Quicktime.
quicktime\CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personell
When i click ok it says:
Error - 1603 fatal error during installation.
Consult Windows installer Help (msi.chm) or MSDN for more info
Click ok
Wizard was interrupted during setup, could not install

There's a suggested registry edit click here for a different program but it might be worth a try.

Cheers VoG, that worked, the link you sent was for Adobe but was basically the same method. Must remember not uninstall in future. Thanks again.
