Quicken 2004

  brambles 17:06 16 Nov 2010

I am a Quicken enthusiast and have been using Quicken 2001 - then I had an opportunity to purchase on Amazon the Quicken 2004 version.
The installation recommended removing the earlier version - which I agreed to - but now the latest version will not run because it says a DLL file is missing. The reference is MFC70.DLL. Oddly enough this problem was answered on Page 102 of PCA January 2011 (I am a subscriber) and it says to type sfc/scannow - in search on start but this did nothing.Has anyone any ideas how I may resolve please?

Thanks VoG™ for responding so quickly. I'm sorry I didn't mention that I have Windows Vista as my OS. The link you gave me appeared to be specifically for Windows XP. Would reinstalling Vista reinstall the missing DLL?

Here's how with Vista click here

Note that you must leave a space between the sfc and /

Installing Quicken on Vista can be a bit hit and miss. I used this method click here

I think I must be one of the lucky ones that have got Quicken 2004 to work first time on a Win 7 64 bit PC without the need to use compatibility mode. This includes your missing dll.

I suggest you follow the instructions in Woolwell's link first, but if that fails you are welcome to contact me via the yellow envelope and I will forward the dll to you. It is 952Kb.
