The question of yen

I'm running a Windows XP machine, and recently, I changed the settings so that I can use Japanese characters. It's working great (no more need to mess with NJStar, yay!), but as a side-effect, my computer no longer displays the "\" character -- it replaces it with the yen symbol.

Now, I can use the "\" all right; when I type "C:\", it works as it shoulds be; however, instead of "C:\", it displays "C:(yen symbol)". How can I change it back? Or am I doomed?

Oh, and as a sidenote, I wonder if there's a bug in the XVID codec... I use K-Lite's latest version of codec, and, watching fansubs using WMP, the computer always hangs *once* -- after a reboot, it works like normal. Why?

Anyways, any help is greatly appreciated.

Some change with the keyboard settings perhaps? Any options there that will help?
