I bought a wrt54gs router a few years ago and I want to update the frim ware but am not sure what version of the router I have. Is there any way I can check what version I have bought?

Why do you want to update the firmware? Generally it's best to leave that kind of thing well alone if it's behaving itself. If it ain't broke, don't fix it ...

Have you tried looking on your router?
You can ring up the router make and ask them?

Open up the router's config page, go to the Administration tab and go to Upgrade Firmware. Usually on firmware upgrade pages it will say your current version, but if not it should warn you if you're about to upgrade the firmware with a previous or current version when you do the upgrade.
