Can you explain what thePCI express graphics connector does and if I havent connected that up what would happen

That only comes into play if you have a PCI Express Graphics card. Most of these cards have an extra PSU connection point because they need the extra power to run correctly. If your graphics card is not PCI(e) then you can ignore that connection lead.

My graphics cards is a nvidia 8600 gt PCI-E I havent connected any thing up to it when I installed and it seems to be working ok.

I will have a look inside my pc and see what I have to do.

A nice card - I don't think this one needs PSU connection. However, looking inside your pc, might prove me wrong.

Hmm, it seems your card does need to be connected to PSU ... scroll down to the bottom of my link and you will see what I mean ...
