Hi
What rating should i use for my computers Power supply mains lead fuse?

I have had 2 3amp fuses blow so would i be safe with a 5amp?

a brief summary of the system is as follows

350 watt psu
Athlon XP 2500 Processor
2 hard drives
cdr drive
dvd rom drive
512 megs ddr

thanks

I would try a 5 Amp fuse. If that blows it's pretty certain you have a problem!

Surely it doesnt matter what the rating of the incoming supply is, there is an internal fuse on all the systems I used/owned?

the internal fuse is normally rated at 5 amps.... so anything above that should suffice

make sure you haven't got a live connector or wire of some kind touching anything metal inside the case.

i've done this a few times when playing with the inside of the pc , i've unpluged the side panel fan , messed about a bit then turned the pc on without thinking , and the fan power cable has touched something and BANG , dead psu , new fuse and its sorted , its only a matter of time till something worse happen.

Thanks for all the help, after taking a look inside the pc and checking the cables i did notice that on the psu label, it has printed 230v ~ 4a
so i guess the 3a fuse was too small
