Does or has anyone seen this or know what the problem may be ?.

When my friend who uses XP connects to the Internet, the Freeserve Dial up connection is fine for a few minutes then the following error message pops up.:-

THIS SYSTEM IS SHUTTING DOWN. PLEASE SAVE ALL WORK IN PROGRESS AND LOG OFF. ANY UNSAVED CHANGES WILL BE LOST. THIS SHUTDOWN WAS INITIATED BY NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

This then start giving a countdown and as it does it then reads:-

WINDOWS MUST NOW RESTART BECAUSE THE REMOTE PROCEDURE CALL SERVICE (RPC) TERMINATED UNEXPECTEDLY.

I have not go any knowledge on this problem and wonder if any out there has seen or knows the cure ?

Interested if you can help please my mate keeps calling me whinging me.

Had to download the Blaster fix from Norton and it sorted it.

Also the Windows update.

Thanks Jester2K II for the rapid response.
