Problems with Windows Monthly Updates

  thumbscrew 11:58 14 Mar 2018

I successfully downloaded all the monthly updates this month except KB 4088875. I even tried the Troubleshooter but no joy. Has anyone else had problems ans is there a way around it?

That update was for W7. Ignore this post if you use W7.

March 13, 2018—KB4088875 (Monthly Rollup) Applies to: Windows 7 Service Pack 1Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1

Yes I use W7 but can't install it.

I take it you have SP1 downloaded. Looks like you need that for the update.

Not sure which one you need from here. I did read that you are best turning off any security programs and firewall before downloading some updates. maybe try that first and try the normal download again.

MS Update Catalogue has no record of KB4088775 for Win 7

KB4088776 is for Win 10

On my only Win 7 machine the update available was KB4091290 which was first issued on 1st March. (I don't use my Win 7 laptop so that is probably why it showed today).

Ignore that I misread the KB number. Specsavers again.

There are some reasons it wont install.

Thanks Govanix and alanrwood. Curse these problematic updates! alanrwood, the reasons given about why it won't install are a tad too technical for me sadly. Are they saying that KB 4075211 has a problem within that won't allow it to install? Also, I've just tried to install an optional update KB4088875 and that won't install either...any thoughts anyone?

I am just trying to install KB4088875 myself on my only Win 7 machine. I did the updates using the update facility earlier so waiting to see what happens.

It has installed fine for me on a very old Samsung Netbook (NC-10)

I think I've cracked it! I ran Disk Cleanup, that cleans up Windows Updates and I've now downloaded the two updates I previously couldn't. That'll be my first port of call next month, when I'm sure I'll have another problem! Govan1x and alanrwood I'm extremely grateful for your help and patience.
