Problems Uninstalling Software

How do you uninstall an application that will not uninstall via Windows add/remove programs or through the uninstall feature in the Start/Programs menu?

What O/S are you running?

Doesn't this article just tell you how to remove it from the add/remove list?
I'm trying to remove the actual application itself. It will not uninstall via the usual methods.

Apologies, lazy reading. Do you get an error message when you try to delete from add/remove?

What are you trying to delete?

I am trying to remove McAfee Spamkiller. The error message states "Setup specialist cannot load the set up log file. Please reinstall the application you want to remove". I've done this and still no luck. When I re-install and then re-boot my virus/firewall software does not load. When I try to uninstall that software it says that I am not an administrator.

How long have you had the program installed? you could use system restore to "take you back" to a time before you installed the program.

Is that suppose to do that?

Just clicked on link and it produced a white screen. Behind white screen was my downloader, open and ready for action. Phew-Wondered what was happening (:o)

I've had the program installed for about a week Chris. I've done approx. 4 restores today to get my virus/firewall software working correctly. Every time I re-boot I get the same problem. I'm a bit wary about doing too mant restores. I did this some months ago and my system crashed and I had to do a clean install of the OS.
