Problems with system restore

Can anyone please help. I was having problems with my computer,ie programmes would not work properly, I was having problems downloading software, and computer was very slow, so I did a system restore, but this seemed to make the problem worse, like everytime I clicked on Properties on my C drive, windows installer would appear and start installing roxio, even though it was already installed, then it would say roxio already exists, so I tried the undo restoration, but I am still getting the windows installer, installing roxio, and all my restore points have vanished, and I have lost most of my disk space, it as gone from 6.25GB to 660MB. I would be very grateful for any help. I have got Windows xp pro, thank you, Taram

Run a defrag and a disk clean up and a spy checker like ad-aware etc then run a full AV scan. If that fails then from the run command type cmd, in the DOS box type chkdsk d: and post the results here.

If you get a message saying there are errors then run this command. chkdsk /f then repeat the chkdsk d:

BTW Open up your C: drive in Windows, then go to Tools/Folder Options and the View tab. Under Advanced Settings, choose "Hidden files and folders/Show hidden files and folders." Then, clear the "Hide extensions for known file types" and "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" check boxes.

This will show all your hidden files and folders. If you don't want to be messing with DOS just click here and post the results when you run the downloaded prog.

Hi thank you for your help, I have done a disk clean up, a Av scan, scanned with spybot, I cannot do a defrag because I have not got enough disk space. Things are still the same, so I will try the other things you have mentioned. Thank you, Taram
