Problems reinstalling Java, help needed please

  whisked 19:34 15 Nov 2003

I uninstalled Java and on trying to reinstall the latest version 1.4.2, i keep getting the following error message:

error 1311.source file not found:C\Documents and Settings\Steven N\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\GHUNWHAJ\ja142000[1].cab. Verify that the file exists and you can access it

Anyone know what this means or how to get round it?

is that you have deleted your temporary internet files. AFAIK the Java installation program, which is only 1.3 Mbytes, downloads stuff from the web during installation. If your connection dropped during that process, you may need to start over.

If you want Java for Opera, try downloading the package Opera with Java rather than the separate Java package from Sun. It seems to contain all the necessary code in a relatively small package.(15.7 Mbytes including Opera 7.22)

The Java package takes a lot more space than that on disk. (Over 30 Mbytes)

Did what the guy in the forum suggested and that has worked.
