Problems with MSconfig

After using msconfig in diognostic start up mode,i rebooted my pc to find that a huge number of my default service settings had vanished.I went back to msconfig, and selected normal start up mode thinking this would return all of my original settings, but for some strange reason this did not work.I've now had to manually change all the default services settings in administrative tools, and i've had to guess most of them, and i'm sure a lot of them will not be needed. Is there a way of returning them to their default settings again.I've tried using Windows restore, but there are no available restore points, which i can't understand. Why would msconfig do this,as i've never had any problems with it before.I'm using Windows XP home edition, please help.Thanks.

Hi, dunno if this would do it for you , but I would suggest putting your XP cd in and doing a repair to xp.

Have you checked that all your startup items and startup services ARE enabled, you may have enabled Normal startup but....TT

Have you tried a system restore to before you started messing with msconfig?
