Problem Wireless Connection

  mikwillo 15:34 16 Jun 2007

I am running XP SP1 on my PC. I have a Netgear WG111v2 USB adaptor and a Netgear DG834Gv2 Router that I have been using for my wireless internet connection for months until now.

For some unknown reason the adaptor no longer works on my PC. It is not broke as I have tried it on another PC.

The blue light no longer flashes and I cannot open the Smart Wizard. I have also noticed that the device is no longer displayed in the Device Manager. I have tried to uninstall the software/drivers but the CPU on my PC goes upto 100% and the PC freezes.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try uninstall it in safe mode and reinstall it afterwards.

By the way, SP2 is better than SP1 for controlling wireless networking wise.

Also check your USB connection.

Ok retep888, i'll give that a try.

The USB connection is fine as other devices work ok.

Tries to uninstall in Safe Mode and there is no change. CPU goes to 100% and the PC freezes.

Refresh USB Ports
In device manager Uninstall EVERYTHING under the heading USB,
reboot the PC let XP find and install new hardware.
Your equipment should now be recognised.
