Problem with Wifi on my desktop

Hi Guys, I moved to another house where I cant use a LAN cable. so I bought a wifi receiver, even a USB extender. The router is 3 meters, but its behind a door. When I try to ping something -t I get sometimes 1000ms ... usualy I get 30ms when I ping google.com I have a notebook as well where I don`t have this issues. When I play an online game I get a lag every few seconds. So my question is, how to fix this. I bought a cheap receiver, does a better receiver helps? Thank you
