are dvd+ dual layer part of your writers spec? if they are you may need to update the firmware from the manufacturers website.

How and where do I find that out please? I believe the drive is a Liteon DVDRW SHM-165P6S.

Possibly the system is fussy over what media is used [email protected]©.

Does it burn to other dvd-r or normal dvd rw
(not dual layer)

Eveything else burns fine. And although I havent burnt dual layer for a long time I think these discs did work although I can't be certain.

They are brand new and sealed and are quite a good make. As you know dual layer are expensive and its not right that it should be 'trial and error' to find the correct disc.
