Problem playing DVDs on TV

  ponytail 13:14 02 Jan 2017

I have just put my older Toshiba TV in the second bedroom and went to connect a DVD player to it using a scart lead as both units have scart sockets. When I had connected them I turned the TV on and clicked the source button only to find there was no option to use a scart cable.Cannot understand as why have a scart socket with no means of using it.The two models are.TV Toshiba 19bv500b and DVD player is a LG DR175 which is only used for playing as due to it;s age will no longer record something to do with the digital changeover I believe. There are sockets on the TV for the Red,White and yellow cables which I believe are Audio/Video cables. If I get one what do I look for when I click the source button

You should be able to scroll through the source options for external 1 -2 -Hdmi1-1 etc.

with scat often the TV will automatically change to the DVD player as the player is powered on.
