Problem with ntl pop/smtp settings

  Alrac 22:50 30 Jun 2007

Since Virginmedia took over and I also have a new laptop with windows xp and a mac destop, I have been unable to download emails to either computer in any email programme. The pop and smtp addresses don't seem to be recognised, and I get a message saying I'm not connected. Or with mac it states the settings are wrong. I also have problems going on to secure sites yet I've ensured there is no firewall and all settings are correct. Any ideas??? Or is this a ploy to force one to sign up to broadband?

You could try Control Panel,Administrative tools. Services.Scroll down to DNS Client and make sure it is set to automatic. Or try Control Panel, Network Connections, Right click Local Area Connection and press repair, see if it finds any problems.

Or you could try Internet Options.Connections,And make sure Always dial my default connection has been dotted.Apply ,Ok
