Problem with Norton Anti-virus since upgrading XP

I had been using Norton Anti-virus 2003 Pro,without any problems On my Windows 98se machine, but I have since upgraded to Window's XP Pro over the top of 98se.

Since then Norton comes up with an error.

:Cannot access Documents and settings/defaultuser/ folder

I have tried uninstalling but I get the same error.

And I have tried installing Norton again but with the same problem.

Any Ideas on how I can repair this problem or can remove norton without leaving residual files everywhere ????

If I remember correctly, you must uninstall Norton 2003, before installing XP.

I got the similar error - if you got to Symantic site, it will explain how to get rid of previous installation and reinstall.

Thanks chaps, there is a unistall program to download from that page, I will give it a try and will let you know how it works !
