I have hard wired with cat5e cable from one side of room to opposite side, terminated into RJ45 wall plates, to connect BT broadband router to computer.

However when i connect ethernet cables from router into RJ45 and similarly on opposite side of room from RJ45 into computer i am not getting a signal.

I have wired the wall plates as T568 A&B options, but still nothing !!

Does anybody know what i am doing wrong ?

sounds like you have incorrectly wired the terminal plates should be B for home installations.

Are you wiring both plates the same?

You are not trying to use a 'cross-over' cable by any chance?.

I find the following website very helpful on situations like this click here
