problem connecting to internet

  ranch 17:12 23 Nov 2003

I cannot connect to the internet as I used to directly from internet explorer.
I can still connect by going to control panel start and pointing to connect.the dial up box comes up ok.
If I try by double clicking IE then not available.
I have to go to internet options, select connections, select my freeserve anytime (default) , select 'dial whenever a network connection is not present', select apply, select ok, then go to IE and dial up box comes up and dial works ok.
But when I try to connect next time it does not work because on internet options connections the dial selection has reset to 'never dial a connection'.
So I have to reset as above and it usually works again but always resets to 'never dial a connection'.
What am I doing wrong?? Pls help it is very annoying.

What operating system are you running and which version of IE?
