Problem after fitting new floppy

  Ex plorer 22:06 27 Jan 2006

Hi I have just fitted a second Floppy drive but I cannot get it to work.
It doesn’t show in my computer and it’s a new floppy.
I exchanged the original lead from the board to a double connection type.
There isnt a bleep of light on start up from the floppy it may be a dud.
Checked wireing and its fine.
The original works fine where have I gone wrong.

I put the twist in the last drive so I could try it in the middle.

It should be perfectly teasible t fit two 3.5 floppy drives, the twist is there to differentiate between A nad B drives.

Make sure both drives are enabled in BIOS and bot are et to 1.44Mb

I have paid good money for Win 3.0 3.1 3.11 Win 95 and many program such as paint Excel Word and many more. I will use the ones I make and put the rest away who knows they may be worth a few bob some day. I have a set cant remember what at the moment but they cost short of £1000 in their day they were for engineering I think still in original folders.
It’s a hobby and I have different PCs for all versions of Windows.
Also DOS related Dos 5 DoS 6.22 any thing I can get my hands on but the price has to be right.

"Fixed the other drive and they light up but the lights wont go out."

This means you have one of the ribbon cables in the wrong way round.

I yes I did have the wire the wrong way round.
this was a different drive an old blue one I have.
The black drive I am fitting is an OME drive as I have been in touch with supplier.
I tried it in an old PC and it works fine but on powering the one I wnt to use it in I dont get a glimmer from it.

I can now access the BIOS to try and get the second drive to function I was told that it should be no problem in fitting the second drive.
I now need help with what I should access in the BIOS to set up the second drive.

I have been into many older BIOS set-ups but this seems to have different terminology to what I am used too.

I have had a look in Advance BIOS but can not see a second Floppy.
Boot set-up is Floppy CD HD.
