Printer problem

I have had an HP 1700 printer for nearly three years and it has never given me any trouble, until yesterday. During printing the paper stopped feeding into the rollers. I suspect that it is not a software related issue, more of a mechanical one. The issue now is will it be repairable or do I look for a replacement, if so does any one have any recomendations bearing in mind I need the A3 print capability.

Over time, the feed rollers wear smooth and lose their grip.

Try rubbing the paper feeder rollers (look down into the printer where the paper path is) with a pencil eraser. The erasers on the top of pencils are ideal as the pencil provides a handle.

If that doesn't work you could try cleaning with an alcohol soaked cloth. (for alcohol read an alcoholic spirit like vodka or use isopropyl alcohol (IPA) obtainable at good pharmacies or from Maplin)
