Printer picture darkness problem

  Steinmanstorm 21:54 24 May 2005

When I try to print photos with Lexmark Z35 printer, the pictures come out far darker than the pics on screen. Never used to, but have done so recently. Using proper Lex ink cartrdg. Win XP all up to date. Any ideas?

Have you looked at printer Properties before you print? in Custom you should be able to increase Brightness

Before changing any settings etc, try this.

Get a picture on screen and adjust brightness/contrast from within the programme, until acceptable. Then print, making sure your you choose the correct paper e.g. If using glossy, set your printer to glossy.

Now hold the print in front of your monitor (or TFT) and adjust the brightmess/contrast on your monitor to match the print as near as possible.

Now re-adjust the picture from within the programme again to get an acceptable picture.

Print again using the same type of paper and settings for print as you did before.

The reason for this is that many people have the brightness too high on screen and as a result get dark prints. The above is an easy way to check. If, after doing the above, the prints are still not acceptable then you will have to start messing about with colour matching etc.
