Printer cartridges dried up

  Greywiz 19:16 30 Dec 2005

After leaving my second printer (Lexmark X73) unused for some months, I find nothing is printed and presume the cartridges have dried up, althouth they are nearly full. Is there a way to re-activate them or must I replace them?

and gently swab the printheads with a moist cotton bud. Do it very carefully, and try not to touch the printheads with your fingers.

When the heads are bone dry, reinsert them, and use the printer's head cleaning facility.

There are no guarantees, but with care and perseverance you might get lucky.

May I add to the FE's excellent suggestion
a smidging of alchol - vodka say- or window cleaner
[ added to the water]may help
Also If the situation persists put the alchohol/water
soaked pad in a saucer and stand the the cart -print head down on the moistened pad over night, and of course a small pertion of alcohol for you to ease those nerves
