"print screen" won't work

  daisy2bell 20:21 12 Sep 2006

I'm having problems using the "print screen" button. Whereas on my other 3 computers it works fine, on my new HP laptop xp home nothing happens.
Any ideas please.

Have you loaded any new software recently,it maybe that key has been assigned to something else.

have you tried system restore ? back to a date when it was last working ok.

How do you normally use your print screen button, is it along with paint.

I've only had the laptop just over a week, and it's the first time I have tried "printscreen" on it.
On the other computers I paste into paint, so I also tried it on this mashine. Just doesn't seem to work

try using the fn button with printscreen button.

then open paint.

fn + printscreen. Open paint and ctrl + v. should do it.

Thanks ed-o, tried the fn+prt sc it works. Thanks very much.

On the HP help pages which is loaded on the laptop, they have it as alt + prt sc, or just prt sc, so the help pages are not that helpfull.
Yet again PC Advisor to the rescue.
Thanks again.

Only just saw your answer woodchip. It's at the correct setting.

No problem :-)

I only noticed a few months ago, but you will see print screen etc buttons are in blue. This matches the blue fn button.

It took me awhile to find the combination. lol

AS ed-0 above also check other key's that are blue on laptop these all work in conjunction with Fn key
