the print screen function does not work

  mikefromp1 20:08 10 Mar 2005

I've used this computer for nearly a year now, and use the printer without any problems. Yesterday I wanted to print the screen. So I "pushed the button", nothing happens. Various combinations of ctrl & alt & windows keys were tried, no results.
I searched the help files they are fine if your printer does not work, but useless in this case.
The nearest I could get to the problem was a function lock key. I can't find one on my keyboard, which is a bog standard one with a PS2 plug.
System is xphome with service pack 2.

Any suggestions out there.

Hi, after pressing PrtScn key you should then go to Start>All Programs>Accessories then go to Paint.
In Paint go to edit, then Paste. You will then see your screen shot, which you can save as a picture, give it a name, in My Pictures.

When using Print Screen key you are in fact carrying out a copy function, you then have to paste to a graphics program to obtain your data, then print it.
