Primax scanner doen't work in XP

  Nades 17:18 11 Nov 2003

I have just upgraded to Windows XP. There is a problem in getting my Primax Colorado 9600 to work. The primax site offers a W 2000 driver and a proceedure for installing - it doesn't work. click here offers another possible driver - it doesn't work either. The COM and LTP ports seem to be recognised but when the scanner is connected Device Manager simply sees an "Unknown devise"
Has anybody come across this problem and found a good solution. I really don't want to have to buy a new scanner.

Thanks Stuartli. Unfortunately I don't feel competent enough to mess about in regedit at this stage. I did have a look but I don't know if a new entry is required or what.

Your second reference leads me to think that there isn't a driver for XP.

Win2000 drivers often work OK with XP devices - you could always roll it back if it didn't work.

Have you installed the driver first before installing the scanner?
