Preparing to Reinstall Win XP Pro

  dregn 11:28 31 Mar 2005

My C Drive is getting full and cluttered with odds and ends which is slowing the system down.

I wish to do a clean reinstall of the OS but want to be able to load all program settings, dialup settings etc. as at present but without any rubbish.
I have backed up emails and so on and taken an image of the C drive with Acronis TrueImage as an insurance - these are saved on an external HDD.

I would be most grateful if someone would point me in the right direction to achieve my objective.

Many thanks.

See here click here

for a guide on install and services you can turn off.

Make sure before you connect to the Internet you at least have a firewall running and have turned off the messenger service (if it's xp sp1, xpsp2 disables this by default. This is not msn messenger).
