I have a spare 160Gb HDD (Pata IDE Sata?) that I want to add to an old PC, I know the ribbon connector is compatible but what about the power to it, is there a spare one in there or will I have to add a new cable. It is a 4 prong connector.
The easiest way is to open the box and have a look! PSUs vary in the number of outlets. If there isn't a spare, you can get doublers from place like Maplins or just off ebay.
There is probably a spare (usually 4 2 HDD 1 CD 1 DVD for old machines)
doublerenter link description here can be had from amazon
onthelimit1, I have to open the case to fit the HDD
Fruit Bat, now I have seen the double cable connections I will go ahead.
