possible virus/trojan

I installed Blueyonder broadband on my mothers new laptop last night after I had already installed from cd a copy of AVG7 and Zonealarm (both current). Within half an hour of setting up users and email settings, a messanger service box appeared on screen advising that there were 55 critical errors on the machine and that a registry update should be downloaded from click here.

I am sure that this is not legit and each time it pops up (at random) I only ever close the box. A similar box also appears advising m to visit click here.

Has anyone encountered this and how can i remove this irritant.

many thanks

A number of questions arise

Was the laptop new and unused and from where did it come?

Have you scanned the machine with AVG?

This may well be software installed to make you purchase a "fix", by the retailer or the software installer or by a site using Blueyonder or one that you visited within the half hour.

Install Spywareblaster and Microsoft Antispy and try a trial version of Spywaredoctor

Don't use the links that have appeared
