i have installed Norton internet security and have had security alerts. I use the tracker and it tells me where the attack came from but how do i tell the internet provider of the attack and what will they do about it.
many thanks.

"...and what will they do about it."

You'll find the scans are your ISP seeing if you are still there...Still connected to the net.

Gandalph will explain it all...

so my isp is in Austria,Brazil and Texas USA eh?

I think not!

  powerless 20:54 12 Sep 2003

...not just your isp.

A whole bunch of harmless computers seeing if your computer wants to have a "computer conversation".

Yep. Just let Norton get on with its job and surf away. Rest assured that norton is protecting you and most of these "attacks" are harmless internet handshaking etc.

I've just checked my McAfee log - 7000+ events shown for the last 36 hours or so!

surely it is ilegal for someone to use a trojan to gain access to a computer

  VoG II 21:01 12 Sep 2003

Erm, without a firewall a trojan could be deposited on your 'puter and execute commands at the writer's bidding.

You have a firewall so you're safe.

What evidence do you have that anyone is trying to download a trojan to your 'puter.

If you think you have a trojan try The Cleaner click here

i am using the cleaner, i will let you know how i get on

  powerless 21:09 12 Sep 2003

Upload a trojan to his computer ;-)

  VoG II 21:12 12 Sep 2003

I've run out of them for today.

  eddie937 21:13 12 Sep 2003

no need powerless, the cleaner has deleted 5 tenget trojans (whatever they are).
