"portable internet"

  gardo 15:33 11 Mar 2006

What are the cheapest ways of using the internet from a mobile while travelling around e.g. London?

if you use your mobile to access the internet you'll be charged whatever your mobile provider charges on your particular network - you won't have any control over the cost, apart from limiting your time online.

Sorry! I was going to ask about laptop, not a mobile of course.

Identify where the open wireless "hot spots" are (e.g Starbucks coffe shops) and use them.

A few local authorities have free wireless hotspots provided in libraries, for example. Often they also provide PCs, which if not being used will save you lugging your laptop around.
