One of my several Spyware catchers notified me that I had the TIBS DIALER on my computor & that it was capable of dialing premium rate calls at around £1 a minute without my knowledge.
I deleted it.

Then when I checked my registry I found dozens of similar named programs such as
0190dialer,absolutdialer,celebdialer,cjbdialer,dialleracces,diallerbank,diallerclub,diallerdata,dialerworld,seksdialler,sexdialer etc etc.

Do I need to delete all these or am I worryng for nothing.

How do the people who put this tibsdialer on my computor get met to pay for there porn material & is it charged to my tiscali isp account or my bt phone account.

If you are on BB it may not be a big problem but if you dial up the dialer changes your default dial up to its own so you dial there number instead of your isp one,i would delete all the dialers anyway.

P.S

you can get on to BT and have premium numbers blocked then they cant dial anyway.

You don't actually pay for the 'porn material', merely to be connected to the site at about £1.50 per minute. This is then charged to your phone bill & many people have had some serious concerns when they receive their bills after the rougue dialler doing its job undedected for that time!

Good advice from ACOLYTE - either connect via broadband [no dialler, so no problem] or if not possible ask BT to block all numbers atarting '09'

Paul

Hi, don't want to be a 'scare-monger', but if you have already got that lot showing you should immediately check with BT, don't wait another second - could cost you a fortune on you BT bill.
Also, if you register on-line with BT you can keep an eye on your phone-bill at any time. lol

even if your on broadband and you dial up is still plugged into the phone line you are still vulnerable to diallers, it will disconnect your broadband and then try to connect to the dial up using the dialler...so beware...

" even if your on broadband and you dial up is still plugged into the phone line you are still vulnerable to diallers"

Why would you keep your dial up modem connected if you were already using broadband?

A bit confused - have I missed something?

Hi, "even if....." this is only because some people appear the leave their modems connected - beats me why? On broadband alone you are very much more secure from rogue diallers.

  plsndrs3 14:59 30 Nov 2004

Agreed - and more secure from rogue diallers!

  Noelg23 15:00 30 Nov 2004

some people think they still need their dial up to be plugged in after getting broadband...dont ask me why...thats human nature for you...lol...
