Pop-up message in Outlook Express

  Wak 13:49 21 Mar 2008

Hi, I'm using Win XP and Outlook Express.
Each time after using O.E. I get a pop-up message when closing down telling me that O.E. can compact messages if I wish.
Is there any way I can stop this happening, Please??
I regularly empty the folders but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
I've searched but can't find anything to switch off or un-click.

To stop the pop-up, let OE compact messages.

Thanks VoG, but why should it want to compact messages if you have plenty of space on your H/Drive. Afterall, you can tell it to compact folders/messages through the menu if you wanted it to?

Wak - may I add a supplementary question to yours?

Is there any risk in compacting messages - any chance they'll be corrupted?

Thanks for the link MAJ. So compacting means getting rid of the dead files and not compressing the existing ones???
That's OK then, but it seemed pointless to me to be compressing files to save space and then having to make backups in case it lost them.
I'll consider the question fully amswered.
Thank you, all.
