This is what i have done to solve the problem no avail. I do not know what is happening?
It stop working with both(express installation, and
customs installation).
This what i have done:

0x8024402C or 0x8024502d error codes
To resolve these errors, remove characters from the proxy exception list, and then clear the proxy cache. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. Click the Connections tab, click LAN Settings, and then click Advance.
4. Delete any entry in the Exceptions section.
5. Quit Internet Explorer.
6. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
7. Type the following commands. Press ENTER after each command.• proxycfg -d
• net stop wuauserv
• net start wuauserv

I am so sorry for the big email but i have to explain
what i have done.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you for your help in advance

1. Have you re-validated your windows if not then this can cause the problem

2. Have you turned on auto-update if this is off then you can't update anymore.

Best of luck

Turn off auto updates and go to click here

  Happy Soul 01:31 27 Feb 2005

This click here comes in handy too.

if the above suggestions by madboy33©® & Happy Soul dont work then I have another suggestion.

After reading up on the net it appears that your error code 0x8024502d say that you are behind a proxy server (or a Firewall) I would suggest that you turn of al Firewalls and try again.

another tip i picked up was to use a ? in proxtcfg -? that gives you info on proxycfg then try the proxycfg -u use the -d then the -u.

hi there

I would like to thank all of you for the quick reply i received from you, you were so helpful.

I found out what is the problem. I was blocked by norton internet security. When i disable norton internet security it works well.

I enable NIS again it blocked me,then i disable NIS again to see what is happening, i was able to use windows update.

Please one more thing: how can i enable Norton internet security to use windows update without blocking it. I have Norton internet security 2002,and norton antivirus 2002.

problem solved.Thank you again from all my heart.

Do you have Microsofts and Nortons firewalls on together? If so turn one off and see if it helps.
