playing mp4 on pc

Simple question I am sure for you out there..
I have some videos taken with an xda 11i, which I have transferred to a pc, but these are in mp4 format. My windows player won't play there a free pc mp4 player which you recommend.

Also can I reformat them into a format which is easily played on other pc's, as I want to share them with family members around the world and don't want them to struggle playing them

Thanks in advance

I use 'YASA MP4 Video Converter' I cannot remember which site I got it from. It will allow the first 5 minutes of video transfer for free. This is perfect for me because I only dabble in 15sec mpgs. Might help?
