Ping Attacks - HELP!!

My anti-virus is detecting ping attacks. I guess that's bad, but what exactly does it mean?

It means your AV (or do you mean your Firewall??) is probably over reacting to a bit of heavy net traffic.

What exactly does the software say? What software / version?

Firewall is anabled. Right now it's telling me there is a hacker attack (Net Bios browsing).

Software is PC-Cillin.

Even PC Advisor will ping you to see if you are there as it is how you keep a connection alive :-)

It's port scans you should start to think hard about.
