photoshop elements cutting from photo and pasting

I have photoshop elements 3 which I am happy with. However How do I cut an item from one photograph and then place it in another please?

A pointer to an instruction website perhaps?

I use CS3 but suggest you select the item then "edit" ,"copy" then go to new photo and press"edit" then "paste" and use the move tool.(it will come in as a layer) I use this to save paper - 4 photos of 9.8 by 13,5 mm can be pasted onto a blank A4 canvas.

You need to select the item you wish to Cut
Then select Move or Paste it in to the new/open File
The Adobe website is quite good
although this is for version 6 the principals are the same

Have both images open then on the one you want to copy from use the selection tool say the Lassoo one and draw around the object. When you have completd the circuit it should look like a ring of marching ants Then either hold down the control key and drag the selection to the other image or go>edit>copy then highlight the other image and Edit>paste .You can tidy up the selection with the eraser.
