Photoshop Elements 5.0 transfer to new Hard Drive

  Peants68 17:49 08 Jan 2008

I wish to tranfer many thousands of photos to a new hard drive. However these are allocated into albums in PS 5.0

If I do a back up then restore to the new Hard Drive will I have to reallocate all of the photos into their albums all over again. Cannot imagine re-doing years of work.

Can anyone advise or is this just a technical forum?

I use Adobe Bridge in PS CS3 , but surely you can copy the folders and files from PS 5.0 using Windows Explorer to a folder name of your choosing. If total is less than 4 Gig or so you could burn this folder to one or more DVDs. just in case. What back up do you use now ? I do not remember PS5 having it's own file system - it used Windows Explorer.

Sorry your thread said Elements but the script said PS 5.

I back up via Second Copy to D:/ as well as an external drive.

Is that sufficient to restore my Albums? My script should read Photshop Elements 5.0

I would have thought so. Maybe prudent to save actual photo folders to DVD(s) if not too big. In a doomsday scenario you coul re install PS 5 and import the folders.
