Photoconductor unit: Lexmark Optra SC1275

I have a Lexmark Optra SC1275 colour laser printer. It is telling me to replace the photoconductor unit.
I will get a new unit, but is it safe to continue using the printer for a few days until the new one arrives?

This is a little like a "sell by" date.
Quality may fall off but apart from messy prints nothing savage will happen.

I would continue using it as long as you can.

If it' only a message you're getting rather than a real change in performance then, as Diemmess says, it's Lexmark marketing department doing their work and trying to get you to spend money.

Thanks very much for the advice. It is greatly appreciated
