Philips PSC 604 Soundcard issues

  woodbexhill 18:01 31 Jan 2004

Just installed this soundcard, Philips PSC 604 but all I can get from it are crackling/distorted sounds.

I've ensured my headset is plugged into the correct port. I've disabled my old nforce2 onboard sound in both the device manager and the BIOS and I've also updated my drivers.

The Philips site says it could be caused by DMA on the Harddisk, I've disabled this with no effect. Also it says that IRQ Conflicts could be the issue, but the device is running on an IRQ alone.

All sounds are on a high level in Sound properties.

Any help greatly appreciated.

It also says that it could be caused by an incorrectly configured BIOS but I do not know what this could mean.

Oh, and also when I play an MP3 or soundclip, Real Player shows the status of how much has been played - ie: 1:14, the seconds on this status area go up extremely slowly.. no idea why.
