Pesky programmes at start up.

I didn't realise until I was at PC Pitstop quite how many programmes start when I turn on my PC. They seem to take up loads of memory. I did the "Run" "msconfig" thing and stopped them running at startup. But now they are all back again, why and how?

Which ones are needed and which aren't. I play games and assume that I will get lower performance with these programmes steeling my RAM.

Startup Inspector is pretty good click here but note that some applications have to be told not to run at bootup in their options.

EndItAll2 click here is a good app to stop all unnecessary background processes.
