Hi, I am trying to but a new laptop, primarily for work. I need loads of RAM and hard drive memory but the main thing is a PCMCIA type II card slot. This is because the instruments i use transfer data by the cards. All the pc's ive looked out don't support these cards any longer. Dell do but a bespoke laptop at high cost (£1k+). If i spend that i want more than the spec they offered. Is there a card reader that i cna plug into a usb port? thanks for your help

Thanks "crosstrainer". The link is to ACER laptops and altho i've heard of them, i have tended to stick to recognised brands. Are these laptops ok? As it is for work i do need reliability. Is there such a thing as a PCMCIA card reader i can plug into a USB port?

I notice you may live in Essex. If it's anywhere near Southend then send me a message via the yellow envelope and we could arrange for you to test mine out on one of your systems.
