PCI Express or AGP For System Upgrade.

A friend is in the process of considering what to buy to upgrade his PC. The upgrade will include new motherboard, processor, memory, PSU, Windows XP Home and a new grx card. Not sure what path to advise him to take with regards to the gfx card though. Is PCI express worth it atm and/or to make the machine more "future proof" and I used the term VERY loosely!

PCI-Express all the way

Stupid question time...

Apart from it being the new technology why?

Got to admit I know nothing about the differences between PCI express and AGP. I assume PCI express is just faster etc?

If he doesn't do game he is wasting money

Woodchip,

You mean PCI Express is a waste of money unless the PC is used for gaming? Or the whole spec is a waste of money?

He does do some gaming and I'm trying to get him into Counter Strike. ;-)
