PCI ethernet card not detected

Hi anyone

I got a 5 yr old Fujitsu-siemens computer with 3 pci slots, running on WindowsXP. Connected to internet via ntl cable modem & actiontec wireless router with a USB connection.
Recently I installed a Belkin desktop network PCI card into my empty PCI slot(other 2 slots have a modem and USB2/firewire card) so that I can connect my modem via ethernet. Not detected by windows xp, swopped the PCI slots around; still no joy. So I thought the card might be faulty and got it exchanged for another card. Still not detected. The LED was never on. I haven't connected the WOL wire to the motherboard(I don't know where to connect).
Can someone please help.

Have you looked in device manager to see if the network card has been detected?

I wouldn't worry about the WOL (wake-up on LAN) wire..... it's very unlikely you find a need for it.....

Thanks selfbuild-- no it never appeared in the device manager.

How silly! The card was not pushed in fully. Working well now.
