PC wont boot, windows 7 and can't find hard drive?

  steeleez 07:56 12 Dec 2010

Hello all, I went to turn my pc on yesterday and it wont boot, it gets to the screen titled Hardware Monitor and has the following message displayed

Reboot and select proper boot device
or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key

I have tried repairing and a full install with the windows 7 disc however I get a message stating no hard drive can be found.

Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know a lot about the inside of computers but if it is running using the W/7 disc maybe you have the boot up order wrong in the Bios.

this has happened to me before, I took the sata plug and power connector out of the hard drive then re plugged them. as you have tried to install windows i presume you know when doing so you need to have your dvd/cd drive as the first boot device in the bios. when you have repaired and its all working ok, change it back to hard drive as the first.

When I look on the boot order menu the hard drive is not listed, there is only the dvd drive and the floppy?

Check the DATA and power cables to our hard drive

remove and refit or try another cable from the PSU
if your DVD drive is SATA try swapping cables.
