pc keeps on shutting & restarting

  Newuser3477 23:09 18 Feb 2008

I have just changed a 256MB memory chip for a 512MB chip in an Xp OS computer.
Now the computer shuts down of its own accord and restarts. Sometimes this will happens within minutes and occasionally after an hour or so. I have tried system restore, I have deleted tempoary files and cookies. Spyware remover shuts down before completeing as does registry mechanic.
Can anybody suugest what is causing the PC to shut down & restart? or how to find out why.

poor seating of memory chips comes to mind.

Re-seat the ram memory
May be overheating so also check the fans are working you may have disturbed a cable when you put new ram in

Thanks for advice, memory chip was properly seated but proccesor fan was heavily blocked (I hadn't noticed)so all seems well now... but I get the following error message on start up
"\3\CXCRtune.dll specific module could not be found".
This can be cancelled without apparently affecting perfomance Is it related to previous memory chip which had to be removed because of incompatibilty with new memory. How can I stop this error message on start up?
